Microsoft® Word documents open minimized or open behind other windows when opened from CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement or Workpaper Manager.
The following include several possible resolutions. You should test opening Word from Engagement or Workpaper Manager after each set:
- Check for a hung instance of Word:
- Close all Word files.
- Open Task Manager and check Details for any WinWord.exe files running. If they are running, select them and click End Task.
- Delete epace.dot from the %appdata%\Microsoft\Word\Startup\ folder.
- Check %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates for ~$Normal.dot and ~$NormalEmail.dot. If they are present, delete them.
- Uninstall and reinstall the Engagement or Workpaper Manager ribbons.
- Clear the Registry key for DotXlaUpdate:
- Close Engagement or Workpaper Manager and all other open programs.
- Press Windows Key+R.
- Type regedit, and click OK to open the Registry Editor.
- Warning! Changing a registry key can cause serious errors if done incorrectly. Prior to making any changes, make a backup of the existing registry key by right-clicking on the folder containing the key in the registry and choose Export.Then save the export file to a safe location to import later if needed.
- Browse to HKCU\SOFTWARE\ProFxENGAGEMENT30\WM.
- Double-click DotXlaUpdate, delete the existing Value data string, and click OK.
- Reboot the computer.
- Launch Engagement or Workpaper Manager from the shortcut on the Desktop.
